a virtually indestructible set of four industrial felt coasters, surprisingly soft and makes a great gift for mom or your favorite gardener.
the ranunculus is one of my very favorite flowers. some species are popular ornamental flowers in horticulture, with many cultivars selected for large and brightly coloured flowers. the name ranunculus is late latin for "little frog," from rana "frog" and a diminutive ending. This probably refers to many species being found near water, like frogs. it's a large genus of about 400 species of plants in the ranunculaceae, which includes the buttercups, spearworts, water crowfoots and the lesser celandine. they're mostly herbaceous perennials with bright yellow or white flowers (if white, still with a yellow centre). a few have orange or red flowers. the petals are often highly lustrous, especially in yellow species.
this set is printed so that my botanical flower illustrations lines up when the four coasters are sitting next to each other, and each has an interesting little bit of the drawing when they're apart. it's totally practical but extremely fun.
